FROM ROME (about 3 hours) :
Take motor-way A1 with direction of Florence; exit Val di Chiana; follow firstly the signs for Siena, then for Florence; exit Poggibonsi; once you are there, it will take 10 minutes to come to S. Gimignano).
FROM SIENA (about 40 minutes):
Take Siena-Florence junction with direction of Florence; exit Poggibonsi; once you are there, it will take 10 minutes to come to S. Gimignano.
FROM PISA (about 1 hour):
Take Pisa-Florence junction (Ss. 555 also called FI.PI.LI) with direction of Florence; exit Ponte a Elsa; follow the signs for Castelfiorentino and then for Certaldo; once you are there, it will take 15 minutes to come to S. Gimignano.
FROM FLORENCE (about 45 minutes):
Take Florence-Siena junction with direction of Siena exit Poggibonsi Nord. once you are there, it will take 10 minutes to come to S. Gimignano.

In San Gimignano

San Gimignano historical centre is completely closed to usual traffic. Traffic Police authorizes only cars of inhabitants or of tourists needing to unload luggage. So if you meet the police you should inform them that you rent an Apartment in San Matteo street, therefore you need to reach a closer place in the centre to unload your luggage.The road you should drive is through Via dei Fossi driving from south(Porta S. Giovanni)to North (Porta S. Matteo), along the surrounding walls, straight-on to Via Garibaldi as far as the intersection with Via di Ghiacciaia on your right. take Via di Ghiacciaia and keep following the road passing the traffic light and forwarding to Via Folgore da San Gimignano, then straight ahead into Via XX Settembre as far as the end of the steep part where you meet on your left the turning into Via di Capassi then forward straight ahead as far as the intersection with the steep Via dei Marsili on your right. You can stop your car here, unload your luggage and reach Via San Matteo through the steep Via dei Marsili turning down right into Via San Matteo, where you will see the leather shop"F2" on the left side of the main street. Here you will find someone who welcomes you, give you the keys and show you the Apartment "Il Dante". Later you have to park in one of the Parking areas located around the city medieval walls, either for free of 24 hours safely guarded
